White cement is considered as cement type I in terms of chemical and mechanical characteristics. The main raw materials in production of white cement are limestone and kaolin.

White Portland cement differs physically from gray cement only in terms of its color. White cement technology is similar to gray cement technology in an overall view, just the cooling process of clinker in white cement production has an important difference.

In general, the rotary kilns used to chemically combine the raw materials are operated at a higher peak temperature than that required for gray clinker manufacture which requires a higher fuel consumption.
